Jose Ponce

Mr. Jose Ponce is a 7^th degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate with 35 years experience in martial arts. He has been teaching in the metropolitan area for over 20 years. Mr. Ponce's students are children, men and women from ages 3 to 70 years old. Many adult students come from diverse branches of law enforcement.

Mr. Ponce has trained with many of the most prominent American Kenpo instructors in the world including; Master Frank Trejo, Master Larry Tatum, Master Huk Planas, Master Paul Dye, Master Bob White, Master John Sepulveda, Master Lee Wedlake, Mr. Jeff Speakman, Mr. Brian Heins and Mr. Tabatabai, just to mention a few. Mr. Ponce also holds black belts in Hawaiian Kenpo and Shotokan Karate-do. He also has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Filipino Blade Systems. Mr. Ponce is the only high ranked black belt teaching American Kenpo Karate in the metropolitan area.

John Wojcik

Mr. Wojcik has been training in the martial arts for over thirteen years.  John serves as the Senior Instructor at AKKA and has been with the academy since its stand up.  Direct study under Mr. Jose Ponce has also provided him with the opportunity to train with some of the most recognized Kenpo practitioners in the world such as Master Larry tatum, Master Huk Planas and Jeff Speakman.

Mr. Lawrence joined Sensei Ponce in 2002 where he obtains his 2nd and 3rd degree Black Belt. He has been with Mr. Jose Ponce for 7 years. He received his 1st degree Black Belt under the guidance of Mr. Williams in Woodbridge, Va. He has also attended many seminars taught by Masters such as: Master Huk Planas, Master Larry Tatum, Master Paul Mills and Mr. Jeff Speakmen. Has also studied Sayok.

Ms. Ely Alfonso has trained under Mr. Ponce for 7 years. She has studied many other disciplines and is A Northern Virginia Police Officer Defensive Tactics Instructor. She is an avid Martial Artist and very respected by her peers at the Academy.
